China's funds outstanding for foreign exchanges up in May

BEIJING -- The People's Bank of China (PBOC), the central bank, said Thursday the country's yuan funds stemming from foreign exchanges grew quicker in May as the newly increased funds in the month hit 376.41 billion yuan ($57.9 billion).

The figure was up 21 percent compared to that in the previous month, according to data released by the PBOC.

The total balance of the funds stood at more than 24.39 trillion yuan at the end of May.
