The models to be recalled are the Porsche Panamera S, the Panamera 4S, and the Panamera Turbo, which were produced in Germany from July 1, 2009 and Feb 25, 2010, according to the Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs.

The safety belts in the front seats of these models have shown defects that could potentially come off the fixed parts and cause serious harm to the driver, the ministry said.

The company will install additional safety devices for the recalled vehicles free of charge beginning Tuesday, it added.

Last week, the German carmaker also recalled 640 vehicles in China due to a similar safety belt problem.
