Chinese shares edge down 0.54% on weak banking, property shares

Chinese equities dropped 0.54 percent Tuesday, as banking and property shares went weak.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index on Shanghai bourse closed at 2,959.36 points, down by 15.95. The Shenzhen Component Index closed at 11,566.61 points, down 38.90 points, or 0.34 percent.

Total turnover expanded to 213.58 billion yuan ($31.41 billion) from 205.88 billion yuan on the previous trading day.
