China raises fuel surcharges on domestic routes

China will raise jet fuel surcharges on domestic routes by 20 yuan ($2.92) per passenger for short-haul flights and by 50 yuan for long-haul flights from tomorrow, according to a government notice posted on the website of the China Air Transport Association.

The National Development and Reform Commission, the nation's top planning agency and price regulator, said that effective tomorrow, jet fuel surcharges on flights of less than 800 kilometers will be 80 yuan per passenger.

The surcharge for routes longer than 800 kilometers will be 150 yuan.
