China's trade surplus in June hit a new high of US$26.91 billion, up 85.5 percent over the same month of last year, the General Administration of Customs said on Tuesday.

Aggregate surplus for the first half of the year jumped 83 percent year-on-year to US$112.5 billion, it said.

China's foreign trade volume for the first six months totaled US$980.93 billion, up 23.3 percent year-on-year.

The volume of imports in June rose 14.2 percent to US$76.36 billion, while that of exports reached US$103.27 billion, up 27.1 percent year-on-year, and 1.6 percentage points lower than the growth rate in May.
