TCL Corp plans to list its personal computer operations on a domestic exchange.

Preparatory works are ongoing, with an official start to the listing process if TCL Corp can turn profitable next year.

In 2006, TCL Corp suffered a loss of 1.93 billion yuan because of losses at Hong Kong-listed unit TCL Multimedia Technology Holdings Ltd (TMT).

However, the company returned to profitability in the first quarter with a net profit of 13.87 million yuan, and it also expects to be profitable in the first half of 2007.

The PC unit is in talks with potential strategic investors before a possible listing next year.

TCL Corp currently has three major businesses - color televisions, handsets and PCs.

The first two are operated by TMT and another Hong Kong-listed unit TCL Communication Technology Holdings Ltd.
