Shenzhen Stock Exchange has asked its member brokers to update their basic information by next Friday as the bourse moves to support the brokerages in their battle to weed out wrongdoings.

More than 100 brokerages are required to provide accurate data on major shareholders, senior executives and representatives to the bourse by June 15 to ensure speedier communication and cooperation in the event of trading irregularities, industry sources said yesterday.

Member brokers have to promise to update information in a timely manner if their important information changes, according to the sources.

"We received a notice from the Shenzhen exchange today (Thursday) and it asks us to update information as soon as possible," said a Shenzhen-based brokerage source. "The bourse is apparently boosting cooperation with brokers to ensure the safe trading" in its battle to fight stock market crime.

China's stock regulator and its Shanghai and Shenzhen bourses are gearing up to clamp down on stock-related crimes such as insider trading or price rigging after a string of irregularities occurred recently.
