Fitch Ratings said it expects the volume of asset securitization business in China to grow considerably in 2007 as a result of increased demand for the products and an easing of policies governing the activity.

"The State Council has given in-principle approval to allow a second batch of banks to carry out trial operations of credit asset securitization, " Fitch pointed out in a research note.

It said that demand for credit securitization products should strengthen as the authorities plan to relax investment rules, making insurance and securities companies eligible to invest in the sector.

"The active acquisition of commercial properties by foreign real estate funds in China could also lead to increased commercial mortgage-backed securities issuance from China," it added.

Fitch however did not give any quantified projection for the volume of asset securitization business it sees this year.
