A coastguard vessel patrols the construction site of the Sutong Yangtze River Bridge, the world's No 1 cable-stayed bridge with a span of 1,088 meters, in Jiangsu Province. The Jiangsu maritime authorities began to conduct massive shipping control around the construction site on January 26.

The bridge will link Nantong and Changshu cities in Jiangsu and this was the largest-ever shipping control along the Yangtze River. During the next six months, the shipping control is expected to take place about 25 times to ensure construction of the bridge. The control will be imposed once in five to seven days, from 8 am to 6 pm. [newsphoto]
