High tech shines at fair

Shenzhen – While the world is still worried about how China can restructure its economy, the 13th China Hi-tech Fair indicates that Chinese companies are on the right track with their focus on high technologies.

Foxconn Technology Group, the world's largest contract manufacturer of electronics, will focus on contents, channel expansion and cloud computing, Terry Gou, founder and chairman told chinadaily.com.cn at the fair.

The company also presented a smart phone Z-MEM designed by Foxconn but under a Chinese native brand, Changhong.

A Foxconn employee told chinadaily.com.cn that though the group has designed products for many companies, but it is not inclined to offer products under the brand of Foxconn, except for componentsor,and electronic parts.

Lenovo Group Ltd, the world's number two PC brand, demonstrated its newest smart phone Lephone S2 at the fair. Lephone S2 and its predecessor Lephone S1 will support mobile Internet solutions designed for police. The Lephone S2 will soon be on the market with a potential price tag of 2,999 yuan, a Lenovo employee told chinadaily.com.cn at the fair.

Although companies may face head-on-head competition from internationally dominant companies such as Apple, YIFANG Digital, a Shenzhen-headquartered company, has found a niche market by for mobile digital pens to be used for iPads. , .

The fair has provided opportunities for companies to showcase their new products to customers and partners.

The 13th China Hi-tech Fair, considered the number one technology exposition, kicks off in Shenzhen on Nov 16 and will end on Nov 21.
