Boao Forum for Asia Members' Club hosted a keynote speech by Fu Ying, vice-foreign minister, on Oct 27 at Grand Hotel Beijing. Some 60 BFA members and strategic partners attended the event, which is part of a series of exclusive events BFA holds for its members each year.

Commenting on media reports of China becoming the second largest economy, Vice-minister Fu asked for objectivity and cool-headedness in evaluating China's economic power. She also highlighted the importance of letting the world know China better. Xiang Bing, founding dean, Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business, joined Vice-minister Fu in the ensuing Q&A session to respond to questions from BFA members.

Secretary General Zhou Wenzhong closed by pledging more such exclusive, informal and highly interactive dialogues between policy-makers and BFA members. He invited all members to the next Members' Club event on Dec 2 at the China World Hotel. Jean-Pierre Raffarin, Former prime minister, France will speak to BFA members on the economic relations and trade between China and Europe.
