BEIJING - China will improve its income distribution mechanism to narrow the wealth gap in the five years from 2011 to 2015, according to an official document released Wednesday.
The document, the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee's Proposal for Formulating the 12th Five-Year Program for China's Economic and Social Development (2011-2015), was adopted at the Fifth Plenum of the 17th CPC Central Committee.
China will increase residents' property incomes, boost employment, raise minimum wage standards, ensure workers' wages are duly paid and increased as well as enhance the role of tax in regulating excessive incomes, it said.
The country will also improve the salary mechanism of government employees and deepen reforms on the income of workers of public institutions, it added.
