The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) has approved Okay Airways, China's first private airline, to resume passenger service on Jan 24, Beijing Business Today reported today.

The amount of tickets sold will decide whether the airline will fly before the Chinese New Year holidays which officially begin on Jan 26, the Beijing-based newspaper said.

The airline filed an application to the CAAC on Jan 15, with the hope of resuming passenger flights before the holidays begin, when millions of people are heading home for family reunion. But earlier media reports indicated that the CAAC rejected the airline’s application on Jan 21, citing incomplete information.

Okay Airways halted its passenger service on Dec 6, 2008 as a result of an internal management dispute.
