Aspiring to be an international leading, modern and high-end district, Beijing’s Central Business District (CBD) insists on prioritizing the core area of construction to head the capital’s development of high-grade, precise and advanced industries, according to the CBD’s administration committee at the two sessions of Chaoyang district.

According to the statistics, the CBD attracted 4,299 new enterprises in the first ten months of this year. 140 of them have a registration capital of over 100 million yuan ($14.40 million). The district’s tax revenue was 37.61 billion yuan from January to October, a growth of 12.68 percent year-on-year, and accounted for 21.38 percent of Chaoyang district’s total revenue.

Statistics also showed that the CBD’s functional area has achieved fiscal revenue of 23.75 billion yuan in the first ten months, accounting for 56.7 percent of the district’s total. The CBD’s main industries, including international finance, global business and cultural creativity, also witnessed good development in this period.

In 2017, the CBD will seek for new growth avenues through analysis of the industrial development trend, keeping strategic eyes on emerging industries.

It strives to inject a new kinetic energy into the region’s economic growth by picking up industries with good economic profit, development potential and compliance with the CBD’s position in strategic emerging industries’ segments and industrial chains. It plans to introduce a group of leading enterprises and cultivate some growth enterprises with potential in these strategic emerging industries.

Meanwhile, it promotes the application of industry upgrades and transformation as well as a commercial real estate assets management system to encourage precision management and services for the commercial real estates.

The comprehensive pilot focuses on the opening up of Beijing’s services industry. A total of 33 mechanism innovations across six sectors such as business, financial and culture, are in trial in the area.

In the following year, the administration committee will also focus on the building of an environmental quality system whilst continuing to improve the district’s environmental quality, with the aim of developing a CBD that is smart, green, cultural and high-quality.

According to the idea that “urban areas are scenic areas”, the CBD will optimize the landscape planning, design and construction.

It will promote cultural quality improvement with better services for the district’s enterprises and high-end talents by making good use of the districts commerce chambers and associations, as well as commercial cultural activity platforms.

Meanwhile, the old urban area’s reconstruction is in progress to optimize the city’s function and improve its quality and livelihood.

Beijing CBD has served as the rotating chairman of the World Business Districts Alliance for the past five years, and has been serving as the rotating chairman of the China Business Districts for several terms.

The CBD’s international influence and attraction are increasing. It has published the blue paper on Chinese business districts and hosted the business festival for consecutive sessions. As a result, “Beijing CBD Business Festival has become an important platform for China’s international communication after years’ pf development.”

The administration committee plans to invite the Chinese offices of various global economic organizations, including the World Economic Forum and the International Monetary Fund, for next year’s business festival, as well as the governmental organizations from its sister cities.

Some international organizations such as Summer Davos Forum and Boao Forum for Asia have their secretariats settled in CBD.

The CBD has also been striving for the international high-end business service resource clustering through promoting software and hardware’s improvement.
