The Chaoyang district government announced that 10 Special Actions on non-complying secondary industries will be launched next year during a district Two Sessions press conference on December 20.

Officials said that sixty-six wholesale markets, 115 manufacturing factories, 19 recycling stations and three logistics companies covering 1.121 million square meters were removed from the district this year.

The 2016 Chaoyang District Rural Area Industry Development Guide was released and indicated that 234 enterprises not in accordance with the official restrictions and prohibitions on Beijing municipal new industry had their registration applications rejected last year.

For example, rental apartment buildings and wholesale markets along the Xiaotaihou River green belt and the Sun River Wetland Park were removed, covering areas of 1.024 million square meters and 26,000 square meters respectively.

“During the process of the functional dispersal program in the central area of Beijing, we combined industry upgrading with urban governance,” said an official, adding that six pilot gardening construction projects were completed which covered 98 acres.

In addition, with a focus on cultural innovation projects Chaoyang built 15 cultural parks by renovating old factory buildings and removing wholesales markets.

“Ten Special Actions will be launched in 2017, including removing 68 commodity trading markets, 99 manufacturing factories, six logistics operations and 19 recycling stations,” the official added.
