The China-coordinates city orienteering challenge, with a theme of “Discovering the beauty of Fengtai”, officially kicked off on Oct 30 in Fengtai district Beijing.
The event was hosted by various authorities, including the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Sports, the Beijing Fengtai district government, the Chinese Mountaineering Association and the Orienteering Association.
Four very elaborate orienteering route designs were put into service, each showcasing the ecological beauty and historical changes in Fengtai in terms of red history, flowers, its economy and development.
“Apart from exhibiting the red history, the design of the first route is combined with the eco-landscape of Beijing Garden Expo Park. Opera and World park elements were also included in the other routes,” the reporter said.
Following the different thematic routes, over 800 athletes from 160 groups will complete races by public transport or walking.
