The son of Wang Jinlu attended the ceremony and said, "It is really a pity that my father cannot see this. He was 97 years old when he wrote for the stone and was in a bad health, but he held on and finished the work."

During the inauguration ceremony, Ma Tiehan praised Wang's contribution to the launch of the landmark and said more and more people should learn the history of Peking Opera so the art form can be passed on to future generations.

More opportunities should be created for children to learn about, and fall in love with, the art, Ma added.

The stone, as well as the 2016 Dashilar Street Community Culture and Sports Festival, is sponsored by the Dashilar District government.
