Peking Opera Da Tang Gui Fei, created by celebrated performer Mei Baojiu, is about to be staged again. Curtains will rise on it in Beijing on Dec 2-3.
Debuted in Shanghai in 2003, the opera starred Mei Baojiu and Zhang Xuejing. Its theme Li Hua Song was highly popular at the time. It combined traditional Peking Opera, symphony and dance.
The restaging of the opera is a project fervently promoted by Mei. It is a project given high priority by the Beijing Peking Opera Company.
