Take a farmhouse named Feng Shang Mountain Villa, located in Mentougou District at the foot of Ling Mountain, as an example. On weekends, the parking lot is always full. Zhou Jiaping, the hostess of the villa, says that the funds for its new facilities like an 1800-square-meter building, a parking lot and a KTV were all loaned by the Tourism Financing Guarantee Service System.

A tourist from Italy bought clothing worth 2,415 yuan on June 17th in Florence Town, Tianjin. When leaving the country from the Capital Airport in Beijing, he went through the customs inspection smoothly and got 217.35 yuan tax refund. His was the first case under the new trans-provincial departure tax refund policy. Travelers can choose any point of departure and get their tax refund after buying goods subject to tax rebate in the Beijing and Tianjin area.

Beijing tourism is building a good reputation. By the end of May, tourism enforcement officials had run more than 1900 inspections and dispatched law enforcement officers thousands of times. The tourism market has been standardized. During the May Day holiday, relevant departments received 50 tourism complaints, a decrease of 68 percent. Twenty-six of them were regarding illegal one-day tours, a decrease of 78 percent from the same period last year.

“Our goal for 2016 is to increase total tourism income by nine percent, to get tourism’s added value account up to 7.6 percent of the city's GDP, to have tourism shopping and catering consumption account for 23 percent of total retail sales of consumer goods, and to increase tourism investment as a proportion of total investment in fixed assets to 9%,” said a representative of the city’s tourism committee.

The tourism committee is asking the State Council to prolong the period of visa-free travel from 72 hours to 144 hours, and to allow visa-free foreign travelers entering through ports in Beijing to visit Hebei Province and Tianjin within time limits. In the latter half of the year, more than 20 competitive tourism attractions will open, including cultural sites, performance centers, and former celebrity residences. Meanwhile, fusion of the tourism and sports industries will be promoted by introducing more than 10 sports-tourism demonstration products.
