On June 26, the Shanxi province held a special meeting in Beijing to promote its rich tourist resources, targeted at foreign people living in the capital. A part of a precision marketing promotion, the "Shanxi, A Land of Splendors" campaign in Beijing aims to attract more international travelers.

"The highlight of the promotion is that we just choose foreign people living in Beijing as our targets," a person in charge of the Shanxi Tourism Bureau said.

With convenient transportation between Shanxi and Beijing through high-speed railways, Shanxi travel agencies proposed the two-day tourist products promotions for weekends, including tourist routes to the Yungang Grottoes and the Hanging Temple, as well as some several-day routes to the Wutai Mountain and the Ancient City of Pingyao.

Taking part in the promotional activity were nearly 260 people, including international travelers, businessmen, educational staff and the representatives of international organizations, of which reside in Beijing.

Some of Shanxi's traditional crafts, such as dough modeling, paper cutting, lacquer making, and Shanxi-cooked wheaten food, were on display during the promotion, allowing performers and audience members of different countries to interact. Culture and history-related tourism has become a highlight for Shanxi province to attract foreign tourists.
