Beijing Chaoyang district has committed to development of Tongzhou district, which is planned as the capital's sub-center, according to Wu Guiying, Party secretary of Chaoyang. The district will take advantage of its role as a hub between Beijing's core function area and Tongzhou to advance infrastructure, environmental protection, industry and public service development.
A hundred roads to be built
Road infrastructure is important to Tongzhou's operational efficiency. Chaoyang plans to build, renovate and expand 100 roads during the 2016-2020 period and improve its highway network, especially in the eastern and southeastern area.
A total of 19 primary and secondary roads, by-passes and dead end access roads along Guangqu road and Dongbananer street will be finished this year. Construction of Huagong and Chajiadong roads and the eastern part of Dongbananer street will be accelerated. In addition, Chaoyang will help with the development of a number of subway lines, including Nos 3, 7, 12 and 17 as well as the Beijing-Shenyang high-speed railway.
River treatment
Six rivers run from Chaoyang to Tongzhou. Chaoyang will step up efforts to treat water in the Daba, Xiaotaihou, Tonghui, Beixiao, Liangma and Wenyu rivers during the 2016-2020 period.
