Five renowned universities in Beijing announced their enrollment plans and policies on June 2, a few days before China's college entrance exam on June 7-8.

Beijing Jiaotong University, the University of Science and Technology Beijing, Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Beijing Forest University, and Beijing University of Chemical Technology introduced their enrollment plans and policies for the 2016 academic year at a group press conference in Beijing on June 2.

Beijing Jiaotong University said it plans to enroll a total of 3,900 undergraduates for 2016, 100 more than last year. A majority of 3,500 students will be enrolled in the Beijing campus and the other 400 will study in the Weihai campus in east Shandong province.

The university's cooperation education program with Lancaster University was approved to start enrolling students for the Weihai campus, with majors including communication engineering, environmental engineering, computer science and technology, and digital media art.

Beijing Forest University and the Beijing University of Chemical Technology announced policies allowing enrolled students to change majors under some conditions.

The Beijing University of Science and Technology announced a teaching center for students to seek help for study and development. It will offer both one-to-one and group instructional styles to assist them.

The Beijing University of Post and Communication will open a new major called electromagnetic field and wireless technology. It will also build a college focusing on modern postal services with two majors:logistics engineering (express mail service intelligence engineering) and business administration (express mail service management engineering).

Chinese-foreign cooperation education will be available in three majors -- communication engineering and management, e-commerce and law, and the Internet of Things engineering.

Beijing Forest University, which ranks first in China for forestry and landscape architecture, will add majors in business administration, management science and engineering.

The five universities will hold more joint enrollment promotional events in June.
