Zhao Yang, founder of Zhankoo.com, an e-commerce platform serving the exhibition industry, said the fourth China Beijing International Fair for Trade in Services helped the company's goal of "conveying its innovative concepts of using the internet to make conventions and exhibitions easier".

Zhao, who is from Shenzhen, Guangdong province, said the company would join in future fairs.

He said the fair, which began on Saturday and will run through Wednesday, allowed other exhibitors and visitors to better understand Zhankoo's services.

"Some of them said they would choose Zhankoo if they plan to attend an exhibition," Zhao said. He also visited other exhibitors, such as those in express delivery, to learn about their innovations and technologies.

Mark O'Sullivan, CEO at the Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria in Australia, said he has connected with companies at the fair to discuss cooperation opportunities and invited them, as well as provincial governments in China, to participate in the 2016 Royal Melbourne Show.

O'Sullivan said the event focused on the future development of the growing exhibitions industry.

The convention and exhibition section is among the fair's 20-plus service sections. The convention and exhibition section, which consists of exhibitions, conferences as well as negotiations and promotional activities, is held by five organizations including the China Convention, Exhibition and Event Society.

Chu Xiangyin, executive vice-chairman at the society, said the fair is a creative event to showcase services, promote the services sector and boost exports of Chinese services.

The event, a comprehensive and high-level platform, allows people from the convention and exhibition industry to promote their concepts and ideas about the sector, Chu said.

The convention and exhibition section at the third trade fair provided 24 trade negotiation areas and a 508-squaremeter exhibition area. The section served as a communications platform and helped solve problems in the industry, the organizers said.

The CIFTIS, which was launched in 2012, is supported by the World Trade Organization, United Nations Conference on Trade and Development and the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development. It covers 12 service trade fields defined by the WTO, including services of tourism, finance, construction and education.
