Youyou, a 1.28-meter-tall robot that weighs 60 kilograms, is welcoming visitors to the second pavilion of the China International Exhibition Center from Thursday through Sunday, when the 19th China Beijing International High-Tech Expo is held.

As one representative of the most cutting-edge and high-tech devices exhibited by Zhongguancun enterprises at the expo, Youyou is the second family intelligent service robot in the world that can be mass produced and used in public fields, following the Pepper robot made in Japan.

Using the myrobot system and produced by Zhongguancun-based company Canbot, Youyou can recognize faces and gestures. It can run for 10 hours once the battery is fully charged.

Youyou, with other smart robots, will appear at the Intelligence Plus exhibition areas, one of seven subsidiary exhibition areas of this year's Zhongguancun expo.

More than 150 Zhongguancun enterprises are exhibiting 400 new technologies and products at the expo. Under the theme of "Intelligent Zhongguancun, New Energy for Startups", and based on the country's Internet Plus campaign, this year's expo has showcased Zhongguancun businesses' achievements in scientific innovations, industry internet, 3-D printing, intelligent robots and big data applications.

The expo also shows the demonstration zone's advantages in promoting the upgrading of traditional industries and innovation abilities.

Zhongguancun's 3,200-square-meter exhibition areas have been divided into seven parts: smart intelligence, smart hardware, smart manufacturing, smart environment, smart health, smart cities and smart startups. Visitors can view cutting-edge and high-tech devices, such as Youyou, smart pianos, a brain pacemaker, 3-D printers and glasses and unmanned aerial aircraft.

Zhongguancun has gathered many robot research and manufacturing companies, including Beijing Senpower, Long Credit and Antvr, which contribute to developing smart identification, motion capture and human-computer interaction technologies.

The smart hardware exhibition area displays Zhongguancun's achievements in developing intelligent sensors and intelligent terminal technologies.

Beijing ZHZ Technology Co and Zero Tech are showcasing their technologies and products in the unmanned intelligent control field.

Through the model of "hardware+software+internet", the expo displays the application and utilization of smart manufacturing technologies in industrial production processes, and the achievements in industrial cloud building and industrial Internet of Things construction.

At the Ecology Plus exhibition area, environmentally friendly technologies and products such as emissions testing, water cycle regeneration and waste disposal treatments are on show.

Through the China Entrepreneurship Leading Project, Zhongguancun not only attracts entrepreneurs, professionals and resources, but also hosts startup incubators, 30 university science and technology parks and 37 overseas talent pioneer parks, and formed more than 200 sites and platforms that can help connect online and offline businesses, innovation and business startups, incubators and investors.

Incubators and investment companies such as Tsinghua Holdings, Garage Coffee and ChinaSoft International will share their experiences at the expo.

Zhongguancun attracts corporations with innovative technology and business models, which makes it the first choice for high-tech startups. The zone vows to accelerate the integration development of the internet, the Internet of Things, cloud computing, big data, and artificial intelligence.

Last year, high-tech companies in the area saw total sales hit 408 million yuan ($66.9 million), up 13.2 percent year-on-year. The figure was 2.6 times of that in 2010.
