The 8th Beijing Open Half Marathon Park Run, featuring a 21-kilometer run in a park area, took place in the west part of the International Corporate Park in E-Town, Daxing district on April 30.
Lu Hongze, sub-inspector of the Beijing Sports Bureau, and Shen Yonggang, deputy director of the E-Town Management Committee, fired the starting shot. The race attracted over 500 participants, a quarter of whom were from E-Town.
The Half Marathon Park Run is designed to be a small-scaled and people-centered event, with a “professional, green, pure and authoritative” spirit. It is held once a month, which means it will be held 100 more times before the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games. For the first time the run was scheduled twice this April, and participants were required to finish not one but two half marathons.
Volunteers for the half marathon can be found everywhere. Water, mobile toilets, medical treatment, and cooling and spraying systems are also well prepared along the running route.
This is the first time the Beijing Open Half Marathon Park Run has been held in E-Town since the race was initiated in September 2015, bringing a new experience to Beijing’s marathoners.
