Beijing released ten songs officially designated for the 2022 Winter Olympics bid, which can be downloaded from the Olympics Committee’s official website.
Jiang Xiaoyu, vice director of Beijing Olympic city development promotion association, said music is important for promoting the Olympic Games.
Music pieces such as Welcome to Beijing and You and Me, which were performed at the opening ceremony of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, were widely popular.
The Beijing Olympic Committee started to solicit music for the Winter Olympics bid from August 8 last year. It has collected more than 60 songs by professional musicians, nine of which are chosen as excellent music pieces and one as specially recommended piece.
Jacky Chan, the performer of the specially recommended song Wake up Winter, said the song is to fully express his support for Beijing’s Winter Games bid.
