Xinhua Printing Factory deals with pollution

The Xinhua Printing Factory, in Beijing's Economic Technological Development Area, or E-town, recently got two volatile-organic-compound (VOC) exhaust processors, costing more than 500,000 yuan ($80,000), up on its roof to collect waste gases to cut its emissions and pollution.

In explaining the new equipment, the plant head said, "Sometimes we had to limit the number of orders since the equipment would break down because it had been running so long, and we couldn't guarantee the output. So, we're putting another 40 million yuan into equipment upgrades this year to better serve the market."

It took a lot of studies and discussions before purchasing the equipment, with function, effectiveness, and energy-saving all taken into consideration, and the calculations have shown that the new equipment can save around 4,284,400 kWh of electricity and 40,000 tons of water annually and cut 1,000 tons of waste water discharges.

Also, with the help of the China Publishing (Group) Corp, the printing house will keep on improving its capacity and expects to show a profit of 50 to 60 million yuan or more in 3 to 5 years.
