Zhongguancun Integrated Circuit (IC) Design Industrial Park was launched in the Beihang University's Science and Technology Park in Beijing's Haidian district on Jan 30.
The Park, initiated by the Zhongguancun Administrative Committee and Haidian district government, aims to attract world's top IC design personnel, teams and enterprisesto turn it into an international first-class IC design industrial park.
Tsinghua Unigroup Co, which became the world's third largest mobile chip maker after the acquisitions of Spreadtrum Co and RDA Microelectronics Co, has set up the headquarter of its new chip design company at the Park.
A number of leading IC design enterprises, industrial alliances and business incubators including Spreadtrum Communications, Ingenic, Tongfang Microelectronics Company, Datang Semiconductor Design, GigaDevice, Nari Smartchip Microelectronics, ChipOne Technology and IC Cafe have all settled in Zhongguancun.
The Zhongguancun Administrative Committee and Haidian district government will support the establishment of a common service platform for the IC design industry and cooperate with relevant departments to make import and export customs clearance policy for IC design enterprises.
The Park is expected to generate a total revenue of about 80 billion yuan ($12.8 billion), advance its design capability in line with international standards and form the largest IC design industrial clusters in China by 2020.
