Fitbit Charge debuts in Beijing

Fitbit, the US activity tracking fitness company has released their Fitbit wearable device, the Charge in China on Friday.

In a press conference in Beijing Fitbit showed off its history of activity trackers to members of the press.

The Fitbit charge was originally released in the US In November.

Best known for their original Fitbit tracker, the company has been releasing more sophisticated updates of their

Fitbit Vice President and general manager of Asia Pacific, Yolanda Chan shared with the audience background about the FitBit brand.

"In 07 we started in San Francisco to bring consumers a better way to for consumers to express their lives and fitness," said Chan.

She says that wearable trackers such as the Fitbit are constantly changing and the industry is due for an explosion.

"Wearables as an industry is constantly changing and we can see in 2018 that wearables will reach $19 billion," said Chan. "This is a huge industry. In 5 years we expect to reach 4x our current business."

Fitness and wearable technology is a growing industry across the world. New and upcoming devices such as the Apple Watch all carry some semblance of a fitness tracker. even Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi had put out a simple fitness band.
