The city of Beijing established an online service platform on April 23, 2014, to ensure the quality and safety of vegetables from demonstration agricultural bases, according to the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Agriculture.

The platform constructed by the Beijing Plant Protection Station (BPPS) consists of four parts, including a website, a WeChat account, a Weibo and a showroom. Citizens can get to know modern agricultural technologies by visiting its website -- http://www.bpps.gov.cn, or via its official WeChat account - bj-zwbhz and Weibo account - http://weibo.com/bj62016348.

"The platform will help meet residents' demands about various agricultural brands. It tells citizens where to buy high-quality vegetables. Meanwhile, production bases provide good and affordable vegetables for residents via this platform," said Zhou Chunjiang, head of the BPPS.

Since January 2013, BPPS has selected 20 demonstration bases with good facilities, technical personnel and strict supervision. It will add 10 to 15 bases every year and the total number is expected to reach 100 in 2020.

Citizens can dial the hotline of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Agriculture — 12316 – for any questions or complaints. The bureau will carry out investigations and the base which has incurred violations will be removed from the platform.
