Tourism cities from different countries and regions of the world gathered in China's capital on Thursday at the Beijing Fragrant Hills Tourism Summit of the World Tourism Cities 2013.
The forum members have reached a consensus over the role of tourism services guidelines in world tourism development, consistent with the vision labeled Better City Life Through Tourism.
It is agreed that urban tourism is important to promoting peace and understanding among the people of the world and well-established guidelines for urban tourism services are conducive to improving the performance and quality of world tourism.
First, tourism services help improve the quality of tourism experience.
Second, improved tourism services also benefit the residents of the host cities.
Third, tourism services lead to sustainable urban development.
Fourth, tourism services can promote exchanges between cities and regions of different nations and cultures.
Fifth, the guidance of tourism services will increase the tourism awareness of tourists and encourage them to respect national customs of the host cities.
Sixth, tourism services can promote the free movement of tourists.
Seventh, tourism service guidelines will help generate better tourism service quality.
Eighth, the safety of tourists and respect for their different personalities is a prerequisite for tourism services.
Ninth, tourism services, including flight reservations, hotel accommodation, car rentals and guided tours, should use innovative means.
Tenth, cities should develop tourism services promoting their unique local style and cultural features.
Finally, it's necessary that the residents of urban communities, as a key component of tourism experiences, recognize the value of tourism services and actively take part in tourism planning, services and management.
