Li Wei was born in May 1963 in Beijing. He started his professional career in February 1982 and joined the Communist Party of China (CPC) in January 1987. He holds an MBA degree.
He serves as secretary-general of the Beijing municipal government as well as secretary and director of the leading Party group of the Beijing municipal government office.
He does daily work for the Beijing municipal government and Beijing municipal government office. He assists the mayor to contact and coordinate audit work.
He is in charge of Beijing liaison offices in other provinces and cities and helps to coordinate with central government departments.
He is responsible for contacting the secretary-general of the Beijing Municipal Party Committee, secretary-general of the Beijing Municipal People's Congress Standing Committee, secretary-general of the Beijing Municipal Political Consultative Conference, organizations directly under the municipal government, Beijing Municipal Archives Bureau and Beijing Municipal Secrets Bureau.
