Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the People's Government of Beijing Municipality has the following main responsibilities:
1. Implement regulations of the State concerning overseas Chinese affairs, draft detailed rules for support policies; formulate development plans for overseas Chinese affairs of the Municipality.
2. Work for friendship with overseas Chinese, foreign citizens of Chinese origin and their communities and related visits abroad.
3. Be responsible for resettlements in Beijing of returned overseas Chinese and compatriots from Hong Kong and Macao and arrangements of their relatives in Beijing.
4. Protect the legitimate rights and interests of returnees and their relatives and the interests of overseas Chinese and foreign citizens of Chinese origin in Beijing; to coordinate with relevant departments and mass organizations relating to overseas Chinese affairs; take charge of appeals on overseas Chinese affairs.
5. Deal with material donations of overseas Chinese and foreign citizens of Chinese origin.
6. Promote introduction of funds, technologies, advanced equipment and human resources from overseas Chinese and foreign citizens of Chinese origin; be in charge of certification of enterprises of the city funded by overseas Chinese.
7. Conduct publicity and cultural communication work among overseas Chinese and foreign citizens of Chinese origin; assist other departments in receiving overseas Chinese and foreign citizens of Chinese origin, who are invited to Beijing.
8. Undertake other duties assigned by the Municipal Government.
