Rainbow fish combo hits the mark

Executive chef Jackie Fong of the Fat Duck Chinese Restaurant at Renaissance Beijing Capital Hotel is highly recommending a seasonal dish called Rainbow Fish Combo to wish you good fortune in 2012.

Rainbow Fish Combo is a traditional festival dish and popular in Southeast Asia, especially in Singapore. The dish is mixed with a colorful array of ingredients including salmon, flour crisps, crushed peanuts, sesame seeds, cinnamon, pepper and other spices. Rainbow Fish Combo is available only from Jan 16 to Feb 10, 2012. It is priced at 188 yuan per order for both lunch and dinner.

A tailor-made feast

The Chynna restaurant, Hilton Beijing Wangfujing, has prepared three kinds of tailor-made menus from Jan 2-29, 2012. Prices start from 488 yuan, plus 15 percent a person. The menu includes a range of nourishing delicacies, besides free flow of soft drinks, juice and complimentary selected wine or premium Chinese liquor. 010-5812-8888

Try a warming winter tonic

Aria chef de cuisine Matthew McCool at China World Hotel cooks up six varieties of healthy winter tonic soups, a perfect antidote to bitterly cold winters. Ingredients range from smoked lobster consomm to braised lamb, tender roasted chicken breast, ham hock and split pea. 010-6505-2266 Ext 36

Seafood buffet always in season

Elements at Hilton Beijing provides a luxurious seafood dinner buffet for Christmas Eve at 558 yuan per head, with soft drinks, local beer, house wine, and Chinese white spirit, or baijiu. New Year dinner buffet costs 328 yuan per person. Prices are subject to 15 percent surcharge. 010-5865-5020

Roasted Christmas turkeys

Kempi Deli offers ready-roasted Christmas turkeys, delicious ham and lamb, in addition to delicious goose with all the trimmings, Brussels sprouts with bacon, giblets red wine sauce or oven potatoes with sour cream. Grand Hyatt Shanghai presents a stylish red rice cake gift box with a dragon image imprinted in gold on the cover. Four rice cakes come in different flavors: red bean, osmanthus, pine nut and XO sauce with radish. The Grand Hyatt Spring Rice Cake Box is priced at 188 yuan.

Go Japanese on New Year's Eve

To celebrate the coming Year of the Dragon, Ambrosia Japanese & Yakiniku Restaurant will feature a semi-buffet dinner that the entire family can enjoy on Chinese New Year's Eve. Bring together all the special people in your life and toast the spirit of Spring Festival at Swissotel Grand Shanghai.
