Q: I have had contact with someone who has been to areas of the outbreak. I have taken a nucleic acid test and the result is negative. Do I need to quarantine?

A: If the person you had contact with is cleared of a coronavirus infection, you don't need to quarantine;

If the person you had contact with is infected, but you were well-protected then and tested negative, you don't need to quarantine;

If you had unprotected contact with the person, according to the current policy, though the nucleic acid test result is negative, you still need to undergo a 14-day concentrated quarantine.

Q: We were on a family trip. One of us returned to Harbin from Beijing on June 1 and the health codes allow free travel. The COVID-19 situation in Beijing's four districts is serious at present. Do we all need to quarantine for 14 days from now on?

A: Beijing has imposed restrictions on people leaving the city. Those who have left should timely report to local communities and follow their requirements on quarantine. If one has shown symptoms, he/she should seek treatment immediately and report on their travel history to Beijing.

According to the current findings of epidemiological investigation and research, the incubation period for COVID-19 can range from 1-14 days, often around 3-7 days. You and your family are at low risk as 14 days have already passed.
