Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) has very rich connotations. It includes not only pharmacotherapy based on Chinese herbal medicine, but also non-pharmaceutical therapy such as acupuncture, moxibustion, transdermal therapy, meditation and Tai Chi.
Since ancient times, TCM has been enjoying high public popularity in China. It is widely applied in disease prevention and treatment and has shown positive clinical effects. Chinese people often use TCM to maintain a good physical status. TCM is also used in containing chronic diseases and treating critical illnesses.
TCM plays a vital role in the whole process of treating COVID-19. Using TCM in early stages can prevent patients from developing into severe conditions; application of TCM in mid-term stages can reverse patients' lung injury and reduce the fatality rate; application in later stages can boost patients’ recovery, reduce recovery time, and improve their quality of life.
