JALALABAD, Afghanistan, November 28 (Xinhua) -- Three civilians were killed and 10 others sustained injuries as two blasts rocked Achin town in the eastern Nangarhar province with Jalalabad as its capital 120 km east of Kabul on Thursday, an official said.

"Two blasts organized by the enemies rocked Achin this morning, leaving three innocent civilians dead and injuring 10 others," spokesman for Nangarhar's governor, Ahmad Zia Abdulzai told Xinhua.

However, he didn't give more details.

Meanwhile, Sayed Rahman, governor of Achin district, said in talks with Xinhua that a roadside bomb struck a civilian car in Abdul Khil area at around 09:30 a.m. local time, killing one person and injuring two others, and when the people rushed to rescue the victims, the second blast took place killing two more civilians and wounding eight others.

He also put the attack on the enemies of peace, a termed used by Afghan officials against Taliban for organizing the deadly twin attacks.

Taliban militants who are largely relying on suicide and roadside bombings in their war against government are yet to make comment.

Civilians mostly bear the brunt of the conflicts in Afghanistan.

More than 1,300 civilians had been killed and over 2,500 others sustained injuries in the conflict-ridden Afghanistan in the first six months of 2013, said a report of United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) released here in July. The report marks an increase of 14 percent in deaths and 28 percent in injuries over the same period in previous year.
