Li Hongzhong elected CPC chief of Hubei

WUHAN, June 13 (Xinhua) -- Li Hongzhong was elected secretary of the Hubei Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) on Wednesday.

Li, born in August 1956, was elected to the post at the first plenary meeting of the 10th CPC Hubei Provincial Committee held in Hubei.

Li is a native of Changle in east China's Shandong Province. He joined the CPC in 1976.

His political career in central China's Hubei Province began in 2007.

Li was elected governor of Hubei at the first session of the 11th Hubei Provincial People's Congress in 2008.
