Chinese billionaire throws a lifeline to Japan

Chinese billionaire and philanthropist Chen Guangbiao is heading to Japan to participate in rescue operations along with 1 million yuan ($152,000) in cash and emergency medicines for the quake victims, Xinhua News Agency reported on Saturday.

"I was deeply moved by Japanese rescuers during the Wenchuan quake rescue operations and now we should help them when they are in trouble," Chen said during an interview with People's Daily Online,

Chen Guangbiao, chairman of Jiangsu Huangpu Renewable Resources Utilization Co. in East China and worth an estimated 5 billion yuan according to a Xinhua report, has vowed to leave his entire fortune to charity after he dies.
