Moderate quake hits off Japan's Honshu

TOKYO - An earthquake measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale on Sunday jolted off the east coast of Honshu, Japan, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The quake, one of the aftershocks following the 8.8-magnitude quake on Friday, Struck at 06:48 local time (2148 GMT on Saturday). The epicenter, with a depth of 24.90 km, was initially determined to be at 39.6261 degrees north latitude and 142.5651 degrees east longitude.
