The Czech Republic has sent 5 million crowns (about 250,000 U.S. dollars) in humanitarian aid to Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia that were afflicted by extensive flooding, Czech Foreign Ministry announced on Friday.

The ministry said that the money would be provided for the reconstruction of the damaged infrastructure and preventative measures that need to be taken.

As asked by Serbia, Czech Republic will send a large water pump to the western part of the country, and Czech fire fighters will transport the pump and operate it in the area, according to the ministry.

The Serbian government declared a state of emergency on Thursday. The floods have claimed five lives in Serbia and two in Bosnia so far. Enditem
