A U.S. military helicopter crashed Saturday night near an army base in the state of Texas, killing one soldier on board and injuring three others, local media reported Monday.

The CH-47 Chinook was conducting high-altitude mountainous environment training in Fort Bliss' northern training area near Texas' state borderline with New Mexico when it suddenly went down, local media KHTV reported.

The report said a 27-year-old sergeant was killed and three others were injured but in stable conditions. Nobody on the ground was hurt.

The cause of the accident is not immediately known. The U.S. Military has launched an investigation.

Fort Bliss is U.S. Army's second-largest installation headquartered in Texas' west city El Paso, covering an area of 4,400 square kilometers.
