An earthquake measuring 5.0 on the Richter scale jolted 9 km southwest of Mae Suai in northwest Thailand at 00:58:21 GMT on Tuesday (07:58:21 local time), the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 10.0 km, was initially determined to be at 19.6198 degrees north latitude and 99.4607 degrees east longitude.
