The U.S. frigate USS Taylor (FFG- 50) passed through Istanbul's Bosphorus Strait on Tuesday heading for the Black Sea, 43 days after it entered the area.
The USS Taylor was the first frigate of the U.S. Navy sent to the Black Sea in 2014. It first entered the Black Sea at the beginning of February in order to provide the security for the Sochi winter Olympic games.
The frigate's propeller had broken, when it entered into the Turkey's Northern town of Samsun port for refueling.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov earlier in April accused Turkey and the United States of violating the terms of the Montreux Convention of 1936, which stipulated that foreign vessels can only stay in the basin for 21 days.
The frigate has stayed in the Black Sea for more than 21 days.
Turkey rejected Russia's allegation, saying that the U.S. warship extended its stay due to "propeller damage," which made it incapable of moving.
Turkey has given the green light for several U.S. frigates to pass through the Bosphorus Strait since March amid growing tensions between Russian and Western countries.
