An earthquake measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale jolted 96 km southwest of Panguna, Papua New Guinea on Sunday, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 18.09 km, was initially determined to be at 7.1672 degrees south latitude and 155.3119 degrees east longitude.
