Six people were killed when a truck collided with a passenger bus early Monday in Russia's western Komi Republic, authorities said.

Nine others were injured when the truck lost its trailer in heavy snowfall and collided with the oncoming bus near the village of Kuratovo.

Five of the six victims were found dead at the scene, while the sixth died on the way to hospital. Four of the injured had been hospitalized.

More than 50 emergency services staff were involved in the rescue efforts.

The local branch of Russia's Ministry of Internal Affairs had confirmed that the truck driver, who was unharmed, was at fault for the deadly crash.
