The 5.8-magnitude earthquake which hit Panama earlier Wednesday has been revised to be 6.0 on the Richter scale, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The quake jolted 52 km south of Pedregal, Panama at 16:13:27 GMT Wednesday, with no immediate report of damage.

The epicenter, with a depth of 31.56 km, was initially determined to be at 7.9043 degrees north latitude and 82.345 degrees west longitude.

The earthquake happened less than one day after Chile was hit by an 8.2-magnitude quake which killed six people.
