Brazil’s Bahia state looks to China for hospital management expertise
A government delegation from Brazil's Bahia state visited Beijing Tsinghua Changgung Hospital on Thursday to discuss health cooperation with China's major hospitals.
The delegation, led by Bahia's governor Rui Costa, discussed topics such as hospital management and application of advanced medical equipment with hospital executives and doctors during the visit in Beijing.
The delegation also visited a center at the hospital showcasing high-end medical equipment developed and made by Chinese companies.
Bahia is planning to build new comprehensive hospitals in the state, and it hopes to gain insight from China on the management of big hospitals, Costa said.
Shen Liqiang, a hospital official, said the Bahia government is interested in high-end medical equipment developed by Chinese companies and may introduce such equipment to its hospitals in the future.
Members of the delegation will also participate in the BRICS Summit, to be held in Xiamen, in Fujian province.
