President Xi Jinping will pay state visits to Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Iran from Jan 19-23.
Xi is invited respectively by Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi and Iran's President Hassan Rouhani.
Since this year marks the 60th anniversary of China-Arab diplomatic relations, Xi's stay in Cairo, the Egyptian capital, will be even more significant because the city is home to the headquarters of the League of Arab States.
The schedule for the three-country visit is as follows.
Saudi Arabia
- Meets with King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and both will attend signing ceremonies of relevant documents.
- Meets with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Nayef.
- Meets with Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary-General Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Secretary-General Iyad Ameen Madani.
Egypt
- Meets with Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi and both will attend signing ceremonies of relevant documents.
- Attends an unveiling ceremony for the second phase of the China-Egypt Suez Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone.
- Attends an event marking the 60th anniversary of the establishment of China-Egypt diplomatic relations and opens the China-Egypt Year of Culture 2016.
- Visits the headquarters of the Arab League and delivers a speech.
Iran
- Meets with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and both will attend signing ceremonies of relevant documents.
- Meets with Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and Iran's Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani.
