Meeting of three leaders should be held 'at the right time'
The China-Japan-ROK leaders’ meeting should be held "at the right time" and "under appropriate conditions", to ensure that positive results could be achieved, the Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday.
There have been media reports that the meeting, which Japan plans to hold in December, may not go ahead as scheduled given the growing political uncertainty in the Republic of Korea.
"China highly values China-Japan-ROK cooperation. Now, the three countries are still communicating over issues concerning the leaders' meeting," ministry spokesman Geng Shuang said at a daily press conference.
He also said that China is willing to work with the two countries to ensure the healthy, stable and sustainable development of the China-Japan-ROK cooperation.
However, Geng noted that the leaders' meeting should be held at a time and under conditions that all three countries think are appropriate, to ensure positive achievements.
